Listen, Learn, Lead II: Voices from our Schools | Webinar Recording

Guidance, Family Engagement

In the coming weeks, schools across the country will re-open in a variety of ways: some will be virtual, some will be in-person, and some will be a hybrid of the two. Regardless of the environment in which districts re-open, it is critical that school and system leaders continue to engage in ongoing listening to those who matter most in every school community – students, families, and educators.

On August 12, 2020, Robert Crosby of the Flamboyan Foundation virtually convened a group of DC educators to elevate what educators and staff are experiencing during COVID-19. Panelists Amy Schutsky, a DC public school teacher; Daniela Anello, head of school at DC Bilingual Public Charter School; and Kerry Richardson, a DC public school principal, discussed what they are hearing through their ongoing work with families, particularly their Black and Brown families facing the intersecting crises of racism and COVID-19. No matter where you’re joining us from, we hope this webinar will help spark concrete ideas to engage your most important stakeholders – students, families, and educators – in an ongoing way.
